Vocations decide what kind of weaponry you can use, and what skills are available to you. Canon characters aren't restricted to this system, as they have their own abilities, their own weaponry, their own method of fighting. Originals however, can choose to take on one of the following Vocations:
Fighter: Using sword and shield, the Fighter serves as a bulwark for his or her allies, and can use his or her shield as both a means of defense and offense. They can lure enemies to them by striking their shield with their weapon, and can use the shield to send allies skyward for a mighty combo attack.
Strider: Fast, agile, and deadly at both close and long range, the Strider is a force to be reckoned with on the battlefield. In combat, they use daggers and a shortbow, and can scale larger monsters, such as ogres or chimera, with ease. However, while they are capable of doing great damage, they're not very formidable and won't last long if attacking from the front.
Mage: The Mage utilizes magick to provide support to his or her allies. Using a staff, a mage can augment the weaponry of their comrades with one of the five elements of magick, Fire, Ice, Thunder, Holy, and Dark, and cure the ailments of their allies, but only to a certain extent. However, mages are primarily long range attackers, and their spells take time to cast.
Advanced Vocations
Warrior: Melee-centric vocation like the Fighter, but iits role involves dealing great amounts of damage to its foes rather than protecting the user's allies. Warriors use a two-handed weapon in combat, such as a greatsword, greataxe or maul.
Ranger: This vocation focuses more on attacking from range than flanking enemies. Armed with a pair of daggers and a longbow, Rangers can fire powerful arrows to knock down foes, and cause greater damage over a distance, but they are vulnerable at close range, even moreso than Striders.
Sorcerer: These magick users focus less on aiding allies and more on hindering enemies wit debilitations and ailments. Sorcerers use powerful artifacts called Archistaves to focus their spells. Like mages, Sorcerer spells take time to cast and are vulnerale while preparing and casting the spell
